Phase 4

Grow Prominence

Build authority and trust for your business by expanding your presence across social profiles, directories, and local media outlets.

Lesson 1 of 3

Social Profiles

Optimized social media profiles reinforce your brand presence across the web and send valuable prominence signals to Google. They also serve as additional citation sources for your business.

Key Checklist:

  • Claim your business name on all major social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter)
  • Ensure your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) is consistent across all social profiles
  • Add your website URL and Google Maps link to all profile bios
  • Complete every available field on each social platform
  • Use your logo as the profile image and a branded cover photo
  • Link your social profiles from your website footer or contact page
  • Post regularly to keep profiles active and engaged
  • Engage with local community groups and pages on social media
Lesson 2 of 3

Local Citations

Citations are online mentions of your business name, address, and phone number. Consistent citations across authoritative directories are a key prominence factor in local search rankings.

Key Checklist:

  • Audit existing citations for NAP consistency using a citation tool
  • Submit your business to the four major data aggregators (Data Axle, Localeze, Foursquare, Factual)
  • Create listings on core directories: Yelp, Yellow Pages, BBB, Bing Places
  • Find and claim industry-specific directory listings
  • List your business in local chamber of commerce and community directories
  • Fix any inconsistent or duplicate citations you discover
  • Add enhanced content (photos, descriptions, hours) to top citations
  • Track your citation growth and accuracy over time
Lesson 3 of 3

Press Releases & Media

Earning mentions on news sites and local media outlets builds authority and prominence. Press coverage creates high-quality backlinks and increases brand visibility in your local market.

  • Build a media contact list of local journalists and bloggers
  • Write press releases optimized with local keywords and your NAP information
  • Distribute press releases through reputable wire services
  • Pitch story ideas to local newspapers, TV stations, and radio shows

  • Create a press page on your website with media resources and contact information
  • Share media coverage on your social profiles and Google Posts
